Stacking Blocks With A Twist

Well, here's my take on the popular stacking blocks. It was quite a discovery when I was creating this. I wanted the blocks to say something that pertained to a girl (thinking about my 2 year old granddaughter at the time) and I thought it would be nice to have the word "princess" in it. Stacking blocks usually are done in sets of 2 or 3 and, of course, you could have something like "My Little Princess", etc. I really had no intention of adding the wood applique, but I had it along with my assortment of craft items and thought I would see if it was the same width as the block and what it would look like if I were to attach it. Well, it immediately looked to me like a tiara ~ and I thought it would be perfect for this series of blocks. I quickly got out my rhinestones to see what it looked like, and it really sold it for me. I was a little nervous what others might think, being so unconventional and they really are never as distressed as I made mine ~ tell me what you think....to view my website click here

My New Booth

Thought you might like to see what I've been up to this last month. I opened up a new booth at our local craft and antique mall. Aside from the large antique booth that I have, I decided that I'd like to keep being creative and offer things for the other half of the population :)

The pictures, below, don't show much of my crafts because I've taken a lot out to list on my website http://rosehillstudio.com ~ Please visit any time!
It's a small space ~ good for me right now...I can always upgrade to a bigger space if things go well!

Below, shows a view of how some of the store is laid out. I have part of an "end cap", which is nice because there is a lot of traffic that goes by here. It's such a large store....I think over 400 "shops/booths" ~ lot's of competition!

Enjoy!

A Big Change

It's show and tell Monday at Make Mine Pink, and I just wanted to show you what I've been working on lately.

Here, I have a vintage pink cubby (or shelf) that I gave a super big make-over to. This is one of my favorite things to do. And, when you don't find vintage pieces that have an honest, shabby time worn appeal.....you have to help it along, a bit!

Here, I managed to get a picture of Dear Son in the shot :)

Here are some close-ups....

This is for sale, now in my Little Pink Boutique at Make Mine Pink.

Here is another item that I found on one of my trips. A great, vintage caddy. I've given it a similar make-over, this time in robin's egg blue. This, too, is heavily distressed to let it's age really show through......also available at Rosehill Studio. I thought both these items would be great for a store owner to display items ~ what do you think?

Oh, and these are painted in the Laura Ashley (tm) paints that I recently bought ~ (see older post).

And for the BIG, major undertaking that I've been working on, was moving into my new space at the antique and craft mall which I promised to put on my blog, showing the transformation.....take a look.

Empty Booth 11' x 3'

Fully loaded booth. Take a look at some close-ups.

Thankfully I had my big, strong son to help me make the move :) ~ without him, I couldn't have done it. He was really sweet to help me on his day off (4th of July weekend). We actually had a blast while moving. He has a great sense of humor and he was just cracking me up, the whole time! He also had a good time looking around while I was putting the finishing touches on the booth, and managed to find a bunch of classic, hard to find, Elvis Presley and Michael Jackson albums. I think he bought about 7 of them ~ he was happy!

Well, now I can relax.......

Regards, Debbie ~

IT'S A GIRL!!

It's official. The ultrasound clearly showed that my DD & her hubby are having another girl and we couldn't be happier. It would have been nice to have a boy this time but we really wanted Brooke to have a sister to grow up with, anyway. Being so young (DD 21 years and SIL 23 years), they really are terrific parents.....they have a happy home.
It was Steve, his mom, me and brooke at the ultrasound appointment....it was crowded :)

Afterward, all of us "girls" went shopping at the outlet malls for a brand new wardrobe for little sis. And my DD found the perfect shirt for Brooke, as well.....

After shopping we went back home to the house "in the country".....take a look at some pics.

Our back yard. Our house sits on 2 acres. The part beyond the first set of trees is a hay farm. You can't tell from the picture but it's pretty "hill-ey" back there. And there's a big corn field right across the street from us.

Daddy, Brooke and Tyler ~

Daddy, Brooke and Mommy (DD) relaxing on the deck. That's a bubble thing that Steve bought for Brooke that blows huge bubbles ~

So, now it's time to start getting the other bedroom ready for the new baby. My daughter already has her color scheme picked out :)

.....And a special thanks to all the Make Mine Pink gals for all your nice comments on my new blog! Thanks a bunch!

Monday Show and Tell at Make Mine Pink

Whew! I made it to Monday Show and Tell just in the nick of time......see, it's not over yet!

Since Monday Show and Tell is a time to show what we are working on, I want to show you some new colors I bought at the paint store yesterday. You don't know me very well yet, but Laura Ashley has always been one of my favorite designers. When my daughter was 4 years old I bought her a bed ensemble in the popular "Kate" pattern ~ which, of course, just screams little girl, and have been hooked ever since. And, I have lots of her fabric and have made lots and lots of pillows and other crafts from them already.
Well, I had just spent all day Saturday out shopping at estate sales and flea markets buying up little goodies that needed make-overs. Sunday I began working on all my make-over projects and decided to run up to the store to pick out some paint before they closed. I had 3 colors in mind before I even went to the store, walked right up to the Laura Ashley display and immediately spotted the 3 colors that I was looking for. Of course, one can't have enough of the "cream color" paint. And, I was also looking for the most perfect color of PINK. One that wasn't too bright, but had just the right bit of yellow to it ~ and 'lo and behold...... Then, I needed to find the most perfect shade of robins egg blue, and of course, she too, makes this ~ but Laura calls it something like Sky Blue 1.....should I tell her it's really robins egg blue?? I couldn't wait to get started painting with all this oooey, gooey, messy paint!! Of course the words Laura Ashley and "messy" should never be uttered in the same sentence :0)

I also found the most terrific decorating book for all the lovers of the Shabby Chic (tm) style.

Just look at all the pictures and see if you're not inspired!!

Can you believe, I have the exact piece of fabric as the pillow in the picture? How cool is that!

I've got to find these colors and fabrics and try to emulate this grouping in my own home!! .....Ahh, PINK!!

......And, who doesn't like blue and white??

Can someone tell me where I can find this bed frame? I know it's not vintage because I saw it in another decorating magazine ~

Well, I really must be getting back to my make-over projects......and yes, it really is almost 11:00 PM, but......I really can't help myself ~

Regards, Debbie ~
